New photographs showcase completed Passivhaus Drumgeith Community Campus
New photographs capture the recently completed £100 million Drumgeith Community Campus, designed for Dundee City Council and delivered in partnership with Robertson Construction Tayside and Sussed Sustainability.
The images highlight the ambition and scale of one of Scotland’s most significant educational and community developments – a project which also stands as one of the country’s largest buildings to achieve Passivhaus standards.
Providing a modern home for Greenfield Academy alongside extensive community facilities, the Campus features state-of-the-art teaching and learning environments, music and performing arts areas, sports halls, a fitness suite, and outdoor all-weather pitches.
Biophilic design principles were integral to the interior concept, with daylight, timber finishes and natural patterns creating an environment that promotes wellbeing and supports positive learning experiences.
Holmes Miller Associate Steven Coulson, who led the project delivery, said:
“It’s fantastic to see Drumgeith captured in these photographs and to reflect on what has been a long and rewarding journey. Delivering a project of this scale to Passivhaus standards has taught us a great deal, and we’re already applying those lessons to the next generation of sustainable schools and community buildings. Our collaboration with Dundee City Council, Robertson Construction and Sussed Sustainability has been key in realising a project that delivers real value for both pupils and the wider community.”
Drumgeith represents a major milestone in Dundee City Council’s ambition to combine educational excellence, community benefit, and sustainability. For Holmes Miller, it stands as both a celebration of a long-term client partnership and a benchmark in Passivhaus design, offering valuable lessons for future projects across Scotland.
