Holmes Miller - Glasgow | We're Hiring
Senior Architect – Residential
Glasgow Studio
Permanent
Holmes Miller is an award-winning architectural practice delivering high-quality, sustainable projects across the UK. We are seeking a Senior Architect to join our Glasgow studio, with a strong focus on residential-led work and the leadership of project teams through design and delivery.
This role is suited to an experienced architect who combines design quality with technical rigour, and who is comfortable managing multiple live projects while supporting and developing others.
About the role
The Senior Architect will lead residential projects from early design through to delivery, working closely with a Sector Lead and contributing to the wider studio leadership culture.
The role includes leading and coordinating residential projects across multiple RIBA stages, including delivery on site. You will manage and mentor project teams, setting clear direction and maintaining quality and programme control. You will act as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants and contractors, and oversee technical design development and project coordination. The role also involves embedding sustainability principles into design and technical decision-making, and supporting resource planning while managing multiple workstreams concurrently.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of Holmes Miller’s residential portfolio. You will contribute to the development and scaling of our residential offering, helping to shape project approach, team capability and client relationships as the sector continues to expand within the practice.
The position reports to a Sector Lead and includes responsibility for leading teams within the Glasgow studio.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a candidate with 5 to 10 years’ experience in residential architecture, including project delivery. You should be able to demonstrate a proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects at the same time, alongside strong all-round technical capability.
Applicants should have sound knowledge of Scottish Building Regulations and relevant residential standards, with a clear understanding of sustainable design and delivery in practice. Experience delivering medium to large-scale residential or mixed-use schemes is expected, along with exposure to developer-led or housing association projects.
You should be confident in client-facing roles with responsibility for design quality, and have experience mentoring colleagues or taking on informal line management responsibilities within a studio environment.
