East End Community Campus starts on site

It is great to see our designs for East End Community Campus in Dundee coming to life with work starting on site this week. The development is set to deliver a 19,500m2 Passivhaus-standard educational and community facility for around 1,800 pupils.

The designs recognise the constraints of the site, the tree line, ecological watercourse and flood risk, whilst creating a solution that delivers best value to the Council, and a safe and collegiate setting for building users.

Sustainability is at the heart of the design, with solar gain and site orientation optimised using a three-sided structure around a central courtyard. The building will be compact and highly insulated, with low energy hybrid ventilation, heating powered by air source heat pumps, and substantial solar panels. A new link to a sustainable cycle and pedestrian route, plus several cycle storage facilities will encourage active travel across the site. The campus is due to complete in summer 2025.
