Cornwall Stadium, Truro

Holmes Miller was appointed in 2010 by Cornwall Council as part of a multi-disciplinary consultant team to develop proposals for a new Community Sports Stadium for Cornwall.

The commission included: initial Feasibility and Viability Study, site assessment and market appraisal, including the completion of a Business Case and Concept Design and Masterplan.

The outcome of the study was a stadium Masterplan that includes:

• 10,000 capacity stadium for rugby & football;
• Leisure centre;
• Full size all weather pitch;
• 120 bedroom budget hotel;
• Community and commercial accommodation opportunities within the stadium.

At the conclusion of the commission, a new client body was formed by key stakeholders.

The stadium is part of a long-term vision for the redevelopment of the Threemilestone area of Truro. The stadium will be a key community facility within a wider mixed-use development. Through the dual use of hospitality spaces and the creation of a Business Centre, Truro and Penwith College will use the West Stand for a variety of teaching and training functions.

The updated design for the stadium was granted Reserved Matters Planning Permission in April 2013.
