Catterick Garrison, Catterick

The major garrison town at Catterick, North Yorkshire is the largest British Army garrison in the world with a population of around 13,000 both military and civilian personnel which is expected to grow to over 25,000 by 2020.

To support this growth Holmes Miller have designed a 150,000 square foot new town centre development including retail, restaurant, hotel and leisure facilities with significant new public realm including a town square as a focus to community life. The square is integrated into the existing urban fabric and can be accessed from routes to existing facilities so that it can act as a fulcrum for the regenerated town centre.

The retail units are designed to accommodate current retail demand but are flexible to deal with future trends and are modelled to be viewed from a distance as well as relating to human scale in the square incorporating local indigenous brickwork handled in a crisp modern manner.
