Oakbank Primary School & Crieff Primary School

Two new build Primary Schools designed and delivered in tandem through a fully collaboratively process with Perth & Kinross Council, East Central hub and BAM Construction. Designs fully reflect an extensive consultation period and the educational ethos and curriculum delivery methodologies espoused by PKC.

Oakbank Primary School, developed as a tandem construction on the existing school site in Perth, is a 2 stream school with open fronted classrooms arranged in an ‘L’ shaped configuration, linked by flexible shared break-out spaces which enjoy south facing views into the playground and beyond to the rolling hills. A further top-lit break-out space links a 50/50 nursery and early year classrooms easing the critical transition from pre-school to primary school.

Crieff Primary School is located on a greenfield site on Broich Road to the southern edge of Crieff, adjacent to the Strathearn Community Campus. The building takes the form of efficient block ‘pinched’ in the centre to create dynamic angled building lines leading to the entrances. Open fronted classroom accommodation wraps around a double height central break-out space, enjoying light from above, bringing a vibrant learning environment at the heart of the school.

Both projects utilise a simple palette of buff coloured stock brick in simple, elegant crisp lines providing a modern and timeless aesthetic.
