Daldorch House School, Ayrshire

In the grounds of Daldorch House the existing stables block was refurbished to be the core teaching block of the new school run by the National Autistic Society. This existing grade B listed sandstone building was in a poor state of repair and required to be fully refurbished to create new tutor rooms, administration and life skills accommodation.

Roofs were replaced and re-slated, rainwater goods replaced with new cast iron, the sandstone was cleaned and repaired with lime based mortar and all windows and doors were replaced with new timber frames. A number of significant alterations were also made in consultation with Historic Scotland: a large part of the first floor was lowered and the central pend was infilled with a glass screen.

This refurbished building was supported with new build boarding
accommodation and site landscaping.
