Business & Employment Centre, Glasgow

Holmes Miller’s design takes reference from the surrounding traditional architecture of Saracen Street, with a stone and glass façade fronting the main thoroughfare. A dramatic, cantilevered entrance is proposed, at the corner of Saracen Street and Stoneyhurst Street, announcing the building, and reinforcing the gateway into the proposed urban quarter beyond.

Tailored accommodation is proposed for Glasgow Regeneration Agency, on the ground floor of the building, with meeting rooms, interview spaces, staff facilities and an open plan employment ‘shop’ accessed from a central double height atrium. To the upper floor, serviced office suites will provide modern and efficient lettable space for surrounding small businesses.

The proposed building will assist in providing key services to the Possilpark area, and forms part of a wider masterplan, which includes housing and a new health centre, along with significant urban realm improvements.
