The new Meadowbank Sports Centre replaces the existing Meadowbank complex, originally constructed in 1968 to host the 1970 Commonwealth Games. It also hosted the Games in 1986, becoming the first venue to host the Games twice. 

As the heart of sport in Edinburgh for more than 50 years, the new centre will support physical activity, sport, health and wellbeing for generations to come.

The new centre replaces tired facilities with state-of-the-art indoor athletics hall, multi-use sports halls, fitness suite and studios, squash courts and halls for Gymnastics & Martial Arts, alongside café and meeting rooms. Alongside an upgrade to the historical athletics track and outdoor throwing and jumps area the new development will provide a 500-seat spectator stand and two synthetic sports pitches. 

Alongside the design of the replacement sports centre we masterplanned the regeneration of the entire site in partnership with the council and community stakeholders, incorporating zoned residential areas for 600 homes, 35% affordable homes for social rent, together with a mixed-use commercial area.
