Planning submitted for Kirkliston Early Years and Primary School extension

Holmes Miller has submitted a planning application for a new build Kirkliston Early Years and Primary School extension on behalf of The City of Edinburgh Council.

The design seeks to embrace our Sustainability charter in terms of performance and approach to design, utilising a fabric first approach to meet CEC's net zero Targets. To address the complex phasing and site restrictions associated with a tandem build adjacent to a ‘live’ school, the design integrates several modern methods of construction including off site wall structures.

To be developed on a site adjacent to the existing Leisure Centre, the Early Years building will provide accommodation for up to 128 x 2-4 year olds with 16 places registered outside in line with qualitative requirement of Space to Grow. As well as the Early Years provision, a further 8 classes and associated ancillary accommodation will be incorporated for Primary 1 and 2 pupils, to be constructed over 2 phases.

Great effort from the full design team, including RSP Consulting Engineers, David Narro Associates, Currie & Brown and The Sterry-Walters Partnership, in reaching this significant milestone.
